A new type of fossil man are found in South Africa. His bones found in one of the local caves cavers. The creature had a small brain, like chimpanzees, were small in stature and climbed trees. And still in structure of the skeleton is that it is not. Scientists gave them the name homo naledi – in honor of the name of the cave, which in the local dialect means “star”. About new branch of human evolution – the correspondent of “Vesti FM” Sergei Gololobov.
The remains, resembling human bones, found in one of the distant halls of the cave, the rising star near Johannesburg. Just on the surface raised by more than a thousand bones, including a skull fragment. This is quite an amazing creature, say anthropologists. Undoubtedly, the fragments belong to the genus homo, but very different from modern humans – small stature, small brain, like a chimpanzee. The only people who like them – the so-called hobbits, also ancient people, from the Indonesian island Flores. Hands could grab small objects, and curved tines helped in lasagna. That is, the South African early man lived mainly in trees, says associate Professor in the Department of anthropology of the biological faculty of Moscow state University. Continue reading
Novosibirsk region in the early bronze age (II Millennium BC) was inhabited by the nomads from the territory of Kuzbass. This is evidenced by granite grave discovered by archaeologists Novosibirsk state Museum of local lore.
“During the excavations on the monument, “Birch island-1″ was found in burial boxes . made of granite slabs. Such graveyards for our area are uncommon. And here in the Kuzbass, many of them, there is a mountain region, a lot of stone”, – explained senior researcher of the Museum, candidate of historical Sciences Sergey Roslyakov.
According to the hypothesis of scientists, the ancient inhabitants of Kuzbass moved from their territories in modern Novosibirsk region under the pressure of stronger tribes from the steppe regions of Tuva and Khakassia. However, their burial traditions they retain, despite the lack of stones.
“Graves discovered in 100 km to the North of Novosibirsk, from them to the nearest place of extraction of granite about 7 km Stones are very heavy, one stove can raise five men. The nomads preferred to live with families rather than in large tribes, they have such a ritual it was very labor intensive”, said Roslyakov. Continue reading
Hi! My name is Andreas, and I would like to tell you all about fossils and dinosaurs. The science of fossils is called paleontology .
Fossil remains of plants and animals are fantastic evidence of past life on our planet. Mostly, they are found in sedimentary rocks . But how did they get there? Actually, becoming a fossil is very difficult process that requires a rare combination of circumstances:
The Ammonite bobs around happily in the sea.
but then dies and falls to the seabed.
soft parts decay, leaving the shell, buried in sediment.
but then, under the action of hot water and pressure over millions of years it becomes.
in the fossil that you find at the beach!
There are lots of different types of fossil, including parts of skeletons, shells, footprints, moves done loadname worms, the remains of shellfish, etc. Most fossils we find today are the remains of mainly marine life. This is due to the fact that they were buried in sedimentary rocks before all traces of them disappeared! Continue reading
